Thermal Resorts

The healing powers of Bosnia and Herzegovina's thermal and mineral waters have been well documented throughout history, some even dating back to Roman times.

A number of thermal springs are located throughout the country in unspoiled natural surroundings.

There is a good potential for the development of health tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina and investments are under way to modernise thermal spas facilities and complement the traditional tourist industry.

Thermal resorts offer various therapeutic and medical treatments.

In addition to the benefits of the natural springs, some resorts also offer wellness program, including classical massage techniques, complementary therapies, stress-reduction, and nutrition and weight-loss programs.

The resorts in Ilidza near Sarajevo, Fojnica, Kiseljak, Teslic and Banja Luka have modern facilities and offer various medical and wellness treatments.

Thermal Riviera Ilidza (+387 33 771 000, www.terme-ilidza.ba ) is the largest tourism facility of this kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The thermal pool complex is located beside warm water sources in Ilidza. It was opened in 2005 and concluded the first phase of investments by the Slovenian company Terme Catez. Water park, hotel, congress and wellness centre will be open in 2007.

Terme Hotel, part of the Hoteli Ilidza complex (00 387 33 772 000, www.hoteliilidza.ba ) has recently opened a modern spa and recreation centre.
